I will call it, and the Southern Illinoisan in Carbondale to see how far their archives date, and if they have archives of newspapers newspapers that they might have acquired from that period.

If I can get a list of riverboat captains, I could cross-reference it between platbooks of that period. I had gone to the courthouse and did some research of plat books, but there was no census information as to job occupation. The newspapers are a good place to start. Thank you.
