Re: Rebel Riverboat Captain..SO. IL ?

GEORGE, You and MAGGIE have been very helpful.

I would like a print version of "Lloyd's Steamboat Directory" because the date of it, 1856 is right for my research. If I just get a name, I can cross reference it with the plat books, from that era, that should give me his property. The book may not contain his name, but nonetheless, it would be a great resource for further research. I am interested in river boats plying smaller rivers in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. I know that they operated on the Black River, and came up at least as far as Poplar Bluff, Missouri. I would like to know if any sunk on the Black, were salvaged, etc, in addition to those which operated on the Mississippi River.

I did find the book in PDF at Google Books, though an open library link, but I would like the print version for it's convenience. They are on eBay, but I gave up credit cards in 2000, because I hate paying interest and wanted to be debt free, but the listings there are all 3rd Party sellers for eBay, itself, which owns PayPal, and eBay is not going to accept a US Postal Money Order as payment.

I will try the source which you recommended in your post.

All the best,

My gratitude,

Dex
