Rose and Bruce, the entry in the memoir I'm working on is dated the first week of May 1862. It says "Befor we came to Lamar, much prairie had to be crossed. This little town in Mo. is on level country hand has a courthouse as its main building. Here several soldiers had been killed by bushwhackers." Does this help any? I know a LOT of soldiers were killed by bushwhackers in Missouri!
