Dr John W Benson was executed in Saline County for his participation in the Lawrence raid with Quantrill in Oct 1863. He was a close relative of my great grandfather who was from Saline County. I read one Petersen article about him and the Branded As Rebels entry on him. Geiger cites him in his book on Financial Fraud as an example. Is there more to be known about this story or circumstances that I have not found? Where else should I search?
