Re: Dr John Benson executed guerrilla

I wrote the original query in this thread regarding the connection of Dr John Benson and my great-grandfather John William Guthrey. They were cousins, lived in the household of John William's father in the 1850 census, shared some military service time, and were paroled about the same time. Bruce Nichols was most gracious and helpful in explaining the circumstances of Dr Benson's death and how the paroles both Benson & Guthrey signed were responsible for how their lives were regulated by Union troops in Saline County. The family connection for the two is through the Kyle family, the mother of Benson was a Kyle and a sister to the grandmother of Guthrey, the families were apparently quite close. Also, Dr Benson had a reported fiance, a Miss Lewis. There is a possibility of another connection to the Guthrey family if I can learn more about her.
