Researching a Pace is very close to home for me, My great grandmother in Buchanan County, MO was a Pace, daughter of Thomas Pace and Hester Turner. Sister in law of James W Thomas. Guess I'll research this Edward Pace's line to see if they are related.
There is a free book at googlebooks about the 25th Missouri Infantry and the 1st Missouri Engineers. Edward Pace is #1784 on the roster in the book. It shows he enlisted July 22, 1861 in Page County, IA as a Private. It doesn't show him killed though as it does for many others. Did he survive the war?
Go to Googlebooks.com and search for "An Illustrated History of the Missouri Engineers and the 25th Missouri Infantry." The book was written by the company surgeon after the war. it describes all the places and battles the 1st MO Engineers were involved in including the seige and taking of Atlanta, then on to the sea with Sherman. Very good reading.
Hope this helps, Tom
