Hi Tom,
I have plenty info for the Edward M. Pace at Centralia, he was my first cousin 4x's removed. His daughter only received the pension as his brother Charles fought hard for it. The minor, Anne Frances Pace, was only one when her father was killed. The reason given for the first application being denied was that he had been furloughed prior to his death...still in uniform on the train, and killed because he was a Union Solider...Charles was able to finally get the pension.
Edward had another brother Lt. Co. L. C. Pace, of the 11th Mo. Calvary, who was arrested for not returning to hes regiment on time...he was with the group of soldiers searching for Bill Anderson after the massacre. I have a letter he wrote under the 34th article of WAR (a complaint against his commanding officer) regarding his arrest.
Edward's grandfather, William Pace, was with General George Washington at Valley Forge.
I have info if you are interested.
Deborah
