I believe this is Rice L Wood born Sep 1833 Virginia, married to Emma C Wood. found with family(William and Elizabeth Wood) in Randolph Co Missouri in 1850 and 1860 census. Went to California in 1852. Ends up in Idaho post war in 1880 and 1900 census. Can't primary source the tie but seems to be the right age, right name, right location at right time. Circumstantial at best.

It is definitively not the R Wood that ends up in Hardin Co TX witha a confederate pension nor is it the Rice/Robert L Wood of Alexandria Va., both served in the confederate service but units do not match.
