Kirby I concur with your location. The placement is better shown on the 1877 atlas on page 24. see :

Using the 1897 plat overlay, it appears this is actually south of the Joseph Warder farm as shown.

If you zoom in on the field south of the house you describe following along the old road which tracks are easily seen on the satellite view there is a triangle with 2 rectangular disruptions at the se corner of the field just north of where the old road fords the draw. In Google earth if you measure a path from that disruption along the old track and road up to current 224 then west into Wellington the distance is just at 2 miles.
