Legend has it that Trollinger and Barton were beheaded and their heads stuck on corner posts. I've never found any proof. Two members of the Adams clan were in the group that killed Trollinger and Barton. One item I have found that gives some strength to the story of there being something personal in the conflict between the Adams men and Trollinger and Barton and perhaps the passion expressed in the beheading of a fallen combatant can be the death, from gunshots into the house, of a four year old girl at the home of one of the Adams family. I have not found proof that Trollinger and Barton had anything to do with the little girls death, but at that time anything was possible. Records indicate that one member of the Adams family was a member of Sam Trollingers/Ben Talbots group of pilots.
