Also from my notes. Poor transcription but it tells of the death of the little girl.

My name James Clemens. I live on Brushy fork of Black River. I am fifty five years old. I was arrested once before. I never took The oath of allegiance. I am a southern man. (unsure) Barton and Sam Lawson came from the camp near Mr. Lawson’s about 1 ½ miles from their place. They told me Wesley Dunn and his son John were there also. Jim Asher I think also John Asher, I am not quite certain. There is another camp near Ambrose Lawson’s and his son, there is a(nother) man there. I don’t know if they stay in the cave or not. (unsure) Barton told me so. I never was in any of their camps. They begun to lay out last fall and were out ever since that time. I did see horses in their possession which were certainly not their property. (unsure) Barton told me he was just from his camp. They must steal their subsistence. I never hear of the daughter of Mr Adams being shot until the other evening. Frazer (on Joshua Stephens ) Capt. Johnsons place kept them over night. Johnson is Captain of the Guerilla Band. Johnson was at home about first of May. I went with a woman to get her husband, Mrs Lawson told me that these fellows pilot travelers through. I know that James Barton went to the camp of these guerillas. George Barton run when I was taken.
