Re: Hidden Gunpowder from State Capitol 1861

Ms Gilbert -- thanks for the post regarding Capt. Ephraim V. Kelly. I have a contact in St. Joseph who researches those buried at Mt. Mora. She has found records of an appraisement bill of the deceased estate dated June 8, 1877; an inventory of his estate dated September 6, 1877; sale bills of the dispersal of his things dated October 27 187_ (date not filled in); the estate administrator's annual settlement dated August 26, 1879; another dated (month hard to read) 21, 1878; administrator's final settlement dated June 11, 1880. Also Eph V. Kelly signed a deed of trust on Jan. 31, 1877 and it was notarized on May 4, 1877 stating he appeared before the notary that day. It looks that he may have known he was ill and was getting things in order and the May 24, 1877 death date may be accurate. She also told me there is no evidence of a grave for Captain Kelly at Mt. Mora although he is listed on internments and his wife Sarah Browning Kelly is buried there in a plot purchased by him. I'm hoping to get copies of the documents mentioned here.
