Fort Dette was located at what is now the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Rolla). When the university was digging the foundation for a new building a few decades ago they unearthed some of the timbers from Fort Dette. A piece of it was, and may still be, on display in a little one room museum in the old courthouse in Rolla. The fortified building in Salem was the courthouse, which was burned late in the war. I'm not sure of the date, but I bet it corresponds with Price's Raid, when the small garrisons were pulled back to meet defend or pursue.
