There's not a man by that name in the 28th Mississippi, but the 28th Mississippi was in the area during the summer of 1864. So it's possible for this to have been a man from the 28th, even though we don't find anyone by that exact name in records of the regiment.

Identification of burial sites of Confederate soldiers during the war are among the most difficult tasks anyone can choose. A couple of my ancestors went off to war and never came home, but I'm not about to put everything down and search for last resting places.
