George, watch the show if you can. I do not know your personal history, so you need to decide that for yourself.
I have seen it and it will bother you alright, but it is a little different than some of the bloody stuff we see now as movies. It just makes a statement of fact and goes from there while your blood does a slow boil.
It is sort of like my mother visiting Shiloh and saying "look at how they treated our boys!" while she stood there and shook her head.
The horrible thing about Camp Douglas is that Lincoln knew this was happening--actually knew. They had supplies and would not give them to the CSA men.
My great grandmother's first cousin was there and he lived through it but he was young and strong.
I truly think this story of Camp Douglas should be part of every American history class all over the United States. If anyone wants to talk about Andersonville where the Union refused to help, then the truth is that Camp Douglas is the other side of the coin.
