38th Cavalry Soldier

I am looking for information on William J. Beard. Probably year of birth is 1832 or 1835. Birth location unknown. In 1855 he married Sarah W. foster in Claiborne County, MS. In 1860 he received a land grant in Jefferson County, Miss. His son's name is Calvin C. Beard, born in 1857.

His probable Civil War service was in Company B, 38th Mississippi Cavalry. He spent a few month in Alton prison.

His occupation was thought to be doctor. I can't find any information about his birth or his parents. Nor can I find any record of him after the Civil War. Sarah and their son Calvin are living with her sister in 1870. I can't find anything to indicate that he did not survive the Civil War.

If anyone has any information, please share. I have lots of information about his descendants that I will be glad to share.
