From a battle re-enactment perspective, this doesn't make sense. The Confederates and Federals are facing the wrong direction. I checked the area today to see if the spot where Hovey's guns were sitting had been cleared in preparation for a re-enactment, and it was not. Does anyone know what mound this paragraph is talking about?
