I'm not sure how a simple factual statement could be construed as demeaning or insulting, but my apologies if the phrasing was poor. The 30th Illinois didn't see much action at Raymond, I'm sure they would have relished the opportunity to be in the thick of things but such is war. As one member of the 68th Ohio said about Raymond:

"It was trying for us to remain quiet, listening to the terrific roar of battle which deepened every minute only a short distance away, and yet know little or nothing of how goes the battle. But there we were in company with our companion regiments, and there to stay. Such was the fortune of war ..."
