I think my favorite story is that of Lieutenant James Giles of Company D of the 3rd. He was in a gunfight with his Captain James Pearson. Pearson wounded him in the leg and Giles killed Pearson. Giles later tried to get a pension for his wound. They turned him down. Told him he had to have been shot by the enemy,lol.lol.lol.
