Gunny, don't trip over the tongue stuck firmly in your cheek! LOL I imagine Smedley was referring to his younger days in the "Banana Wars" of Central America. The United Fruit Co. would holler to Washington, and here came the Marines!

Remember the Southern philosophy was individualism; unionizing would not be their favorite activity. We are looking back with our current perspctive. In the late 50s and early 60s, one of my wife's uncles drove a coal truck in eastern Kentucky. He did not hold with unions and striking. He told us that many were the times he got bullet holes in his truck running union rodblocks to make deliveries and earn his living. I would not have wanted to mes with ol' Jess in those days. Stan
