Re: Virginia's Museum of the Confederacy Is Strugg

That word “Confederacy” can be a stumbling block…it has a radioactivity that makes it untouchable for a lot of folk, and I’m a bit frustrated as to what to do about it.

It wouldn’t be the first Museum to change its name to become solvent again. That word Confederacy will keep corporate funding away, as well as other funding. Everyone is looking for a “Shrine” to the Confederacy, but are unable/unwilling to properly fund it. There has been talk of the SCV taking it over, but that is a whole Pandora’s box we don’t want to get into here on this board.

If changing locations AND changing it’s name helps it survive, I’m for it. I am more interested in the artifacts surviving for future generations, than I am about the name or location of that Museum. I hope to see it myself someday, wherever it may be located.

My mileage is going to vary from others!
