In some circles it shows disdain or disrespect to intentionally mispell someone's name.
Not in my circles, just an honest mistake. Didn't mean to get under your skin Stephen. When I want to be annoying, I can do much better than that. I mean ,com'on with a name like Collin Wilberforce Chase, I can't get into a family name calling contest can I?
However to get back to a point I was making, Dr. Walter B. Cannon of Harvard Medical School published an article entitled Voodoo Death, listing death by suggestion from many sources. Here's one from Africa.."I have seen more than one Hausa soldier dying steadly and by inches, because he believed himself bewitched. No nourshiments or medicines that were givien to him had the slighest effect, to improve his condition, and nothing was able to divert him from a fate he considered inevitable. I have seen Kru-men and others die in spite of every effort, simply because they had made up their minds not to die but that being in the clutch of malignant demons they were bound to die."
Cannon's hypothesis was tested in the Psychological Labortory at John Hopkins University. By immersing rats briefly in water and then removing them he taught them their situation was not hopeless. Rats so train did not die pschogentic deaths but produced swimming records. In short he found out it was not fear that cause pschogentic death but hopelessness.
