No, the United States is still divided as it always was. Except now the congressmen represent lobbyist instead of consituents. Oil Companies run the economy instead of cotton. The decendants of slaves have more rights than the decendants of slave owners. The middle class is responsible for providing for the government while the patrician class reaps wholesale profits and pays less taxes per capita than the middle.

Before the War for Southern Independence the Country was right side, up as you will. Now it is upside down.
