Re: Is the United States Better off TODAY

Yeah, and the irony of it is that I am not a first generation Democrat either. My daughter who is only 20 sounds just like me if you can believe that.
My mother hated the Republicans and Hoover because of the Depression and what her family lived through. My daddy did too, but my mother was vocal about it and she would use the term "yeller dog Democrat" and get the biggest laugh out of it. She would talk about how they survived eating those Hoover hogs-rabbits- during the depression.
You can say what you want, but the fallout from the Civil War did not end in most of the South until decades after the war ended. I would say at least the mid 50's before the air really cleared. WWII helped the whole South because men came back and had those GI bills to go to college on, buy houses, etc. The South did rise again through time and education. I am living proof.
Am I proud of my Confedeate hertiage, you bet!
But I am just as proud of my ancestors who fought in the American Revolution and those who fought for our country in all the wars like the Spanish American, WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam and all others since.
Our nation and our people are winners. We stand and we fight and that is just the way it is.
Like I said, God bless America!
