First of all, that subjugation lasted too long and did too much damage. The Constitution has become weaker and weaker by the generations of oligarchs that have run the federal government since the WBTS.

Human nature being what it is, the loss of hundreds of thousands of Americans left a huge deficit for productive people....much more than for bad people. Could have been a cure for cancer in their offspring.
