Jamie, it is not so much of a joke. Remember the turnout at 1st Bull Run, they thought there would be one or two battles and the South would go home. If that happened Lincon did not have to free any slaves.

I still say the cause of the war was more than slavery and land. I would love to know why the South hated Lincoln so much.
