Actually, we began our vacation on Sunday and drove straight into the flooding. Forty five minutes from home in Okmulgee we were almost swept off the highway. The road was closed behind us so we could not go home and the flooding was also bad to the south, the direction we were headed. We had to pull off and check into a motel and ride it out. While we were safe in the motel, about 2 miles away, our good friend, Stephen Whitlock was driving through 2 feet of water to rescue his daughter who was stranded in the flood. With the weather channel predicting more of the same, we decided to come back home.
