American presidents are not kings. American presidents are elected by free and fair elections of the people, which occured in 1860. The people had spoken and Lincoln was constitutionally elected.
If one side wins the election, they can't disregard the outcome. When Al Gore lost in 2000 he did not break away from the United States and begin threatening Bush's life.
