Re: George---History and Society

Exactly Frank and thank you for picking up my fumble. I can only assume now that the mascot is gone, the young lady now feels safer on campus. I am wondering how the mascot over all those years committed so many attacks and got away with it? No matter the campus is much safer now. Are you a college football fan? If so watch out for Ole Miss. Chancellor Khayat told us if we removed the CBF from the stadium Ole Miss. would win, nope didn't work. Well then the song Dixie had to be the problem, so we limited how many times it could be played a game. I think this was after touchdowns, well needless to comment on that. Removing those two icons hose two icons didn’t produce a winning season so surely it had two be the mascot. I believe last year was the last year for the mascot, so this year we will surely win!!!

I know some are thinking this boy has really lost it, time for a white jacket and a padded cell, but hold on, I am like the Gray Ghost, and I’ll go around your flanks and attack you from behind. Anyway, going back the Illinois issue, stay with me now, and the change there, it was brought on by the NCAA correct? Now my limited knowledge of this institution tells me these folks must have at least been involved in sports in an institution of higher learning, right? Still with me? Anyway this goes hand in hand with the thread about teaching history in these learning institutions. This same NCAA that removed the mascot in Illinois is also the same NCAA that is attacking the CBF in South Carolina. This is the same bunch who wants to take down and change the Mississippi State flag because it is a symbol of racism and all that is bad. There was once a bill in Congress that would have limited the power of the NCAA and their ability to force these changes, but our leaders in Washington saw fit to let it die in committee. I can only assume this is because of the danger theses flags and mascots pose to the players and fans. Maybe they wanted to see Ole Miss win? BTW what is the failure rate for college athletes? Anyone?

Now you ask what does all of this have to do with the WBTS. States rights my friend state rights. Flanking move complete, rear elements collapsing, are ya'll still with me? Good!!! That was a heck of a circle wasn’t it?

Now as of late I have been teetering on the edge of what this board is about and basically dominating the board by the number of posts. It was never my intention to do so. Not only that, Jim has been gracious enough to allow me to stomp all over his hospitality while addressing some of these issues. In doing so I hope I have opened some eyes to what I do EVERYDAY not just now and then. Thank you Jim for allowing me the freedom.

In the words of Forrest Gump-- "That is all I have to say about that."
