Mike, make no mistake, bad things were indeed done. It is not the crowning moment of history for either the white or black population. If I remember correctly the book does speak of post event atrocities. If I can find it I will look more at the details. I bought the book from a used book dealer in Natchitoches. That's the only place I've ever seen it for sale.

Anyway, getting back to old Pete I think we can all agree he may have been the most controversial figure of the post war era... maybe even until Elvis came along LOL!
