Thanks, Stan. Don't know what became of the memoirs. Maybe someone can answer that here. I have read that Longstreet lost all his memorabilia when his hotel burned down in what, the late 1880s?

Larry Bell was a visionary, whose P-39/63's got a bum rap from the US. Soviets used 'em to devastating effect on German armor and in low-altitude dogfighting. And that's all I'll say for fear of administrative retribution.

Anyway, I'm sure the response you mounted (sorry, bad pun) re: the young lady was the right one at the time. Although there may be something of the sailor in you that regrets shore leave opp'ties under-utilized! lol
