Re: Shelby Foote - A Quote worth Quoting

I enjoy reading his musings. I think we need to read many authors to get at the truth. I have not read any of his novels but then again I am not into novels. I do enjoy history very much. I especially am interested in the western theater since that is the one that my relative was involved with. Its kind of like our diet, we need to sample many dishes to really know what we like and don't like. I have a dear friend who is about to publish a book about the 90th Illinois (Great Grandpa's outfit) and I have already ordered several copies for myself and relatives. Been reading about Burnside at Knoxville. I have always seen him as a bumbler but I am now seeing him as a good stratigist based on what I have been reading. So one never knows until he studies something from many angles.
