Re: Shelby Foote - A Quote worth Quoting

My Turchinov ancestor was in a Ohio Home Guard unit. He was comparatively young but his body had been wrecked in the Crimean War. 2X Grandfather Morrow, along with his dad and three brothers were in the Ist TN National Guard U.S.A. and later the 3rd TN. Mounted Infantry U.S.A. and involved in partisan activities in Eastern TN.

My 2x Grandfather Garrett with two of his brothers were in the 11th GA Infantry C.S.A. They would follow Longstreet, Hood and Anderson throughout the war in the ANV. Three other Garrett brothers were with the 52nd GA Infantry at Vicksburg...paroled and later returned to the AoT. The oldest brother was with the 6 GA Cavalry, formerly..Smith's Legion.

I have more distant ...Dockery and Garrett relatives... in Thomas' Legion and other North GA and Western NC Confederate units.
