I thought of three more things.

Brown of Georgia kept threating Davis that Georgia was going to rejoin the United States if things did not improve.
Even before Vance became Governor of North Carolina they threatened to do the same think. I don't think the North Carolinians heart was in the whole thing.
Vice President Stevens who was kind of sickly, but also had a major case of hypocondria spent most of his time back home in Georgia in bed. He did not do much to assist the government in Richmond. What little he did do was to write letters to Brown of Georgia and others in the South knocking Davis and how he ran the government.
All in all, I think we can all learn how not to govern from the way things were ran.
I guess the North could afford to make mistakes but I don't think the South could.
