I really doubt if you will find any photo's of black & white solder's together in a army photo
in the CSA.. Remember right after the surrender the wonderful KKK came into being & later Jim Crow
reared his ugly head...
Gen. Cleburne tried to get Jeff Davis to draft the Blacks into the CS army & was shot down
big time (big mistake). The south held these people in bondage for a long time, so they certaintly
arn't going to have their picture taken together in an army uniform.. Fort Pillow????
Don't get me wrong, I ain't no bleeding heart liberal. I live in central Illinois & am
proud of it. During the war of the Rebellion the blacks were not even allowed in this
great state. It has certainly changed nowadays....... I honestly believe we have
more blacks here than the state of Mississippi does today....
IMHO I really dont think they had seperate but equal camps for the blacks, probably a
hangmans noose...
