I am not nearly as "knowed up" on the "late unpleasantness" as all of you surely are, and do not wish to appear consciously naive but....this post raised a question in my mind about the three choices open to those affected. Approval of secession was not universal and in two regions in the South many appear to have resisted choosing sides. NW Arkansas and E Tennessee come to mind. Horribly cruel and bloody events occured between "Patriots" and "Traitors". Were these choices the only ones open to those who neither supported the war nor secession? Recent posts regarding the motivation of those who served in the Viet Nam conflict seem analogous. Just musing...Joe
