Bryan, from what I have read about the state of the Soutnern economy, during and well after the end of reconstruction, I could easily believe state script, at 10 cents on the dollar, might have been all Arkansas and its local businesses could afford; likewise in most other Confederate states with the possibility of those states with significant port or river waterway cities which I recall having read recovered more quickly than inland cities and states. Sound believable to you?
