I grew up probably about fifteen to twenty miles from where you spent your summers in Western N.C., and I must say that I don't remember seeing store trucks come around, maybe we just didn't live on one of their routes, we always went to little country stores, that had an assortment of everything from clothes to feed for livestock. There was one big store, in Andrews, an IGA, I want to say it opened around 1964 or so, but I'm not sure. I remember going there once in awhile. To stay on topic, we didn't know at the time we were growing up in such an historic place as far as the Civil War is concerned.
