CSA state vs national loyalty - yesterday & today
In Response To: Re: Confederate Musuem ()

Following is my reply of several daya ago to Herb,

"Herb your description of the South's interstate rivalries in 2008 painfully remind me of the South's interstate rivalries in the 1860.

QUESTION: Why is it that when it comes right down to a cause for the greater good, the South seems unable to speak with a single voice?

Your opinions please."

If you have an opinion on this question, I sure would like to see it. In my own thinking, it seems the answer to this question, which concerns, at its heart, state vs. national (Confederate) loyalty, had a huge bearing on how the Confederacy prosecuted the WBTS; and today how we will or will not deal with creating a Museum of the Confederacy and, in the long run, how we will or will not be able to preserve and promote Southern Heritage. It may well turn out that the answer(s) to this question will identify not just "the," but "THE" obstacle(s) to be overcome if we are to ever see that museum and if we are ever to truly believe the South's heritage will survice against the constant, unending efforts to destroy it that we see happening today. Is that not the "greater good?"

Is it possible that each former Confederate state, acting on its own, is more effective when dealing with any Southern cause, than all Confederate states acting as one with one voice?

Am I to believe that among us, no one has an opinion on this?
