Confederates, think this over.

OK, I'm violating personal policy here but I think the thread on Lincoln's oath has gone to where we need to stop and catch our breath. May I offer some words that may encourage everybody?

It is true that personal liberties in this country are being lost and that we do not have the exact govt. as intended by most of the Founding Fathers. But we are all so blessed to live in this country. After the WBTS many Confederates swore not to live under Union rule or occupation, whatever you choose to call it and left for other countries. Some, like Edmond Ruffin, went so far as to commit suicide. But the greatest example of strength and honor, in my opinion, came from none other than Robert E. Lee. He encouraged obediance to civil authority and advocated forgiveness for any wrong doings. If Lee and all the other Southerners could endure what they did, who are we to surrender their dreams? Personally I feel no right to give up on my beloved Louisiana or Dixie or Uncle Sam either.

In the Old Testament of God's Word we find none other than the prophet Elijah getting pretty down in the mouth about his own people and country. Check this out from 1st Kings chapter 19...

" I Kings 19: ...Verse 14; He replied, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too." 15 The LORD said to him, "Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. 16 Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. 17 Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu. 18 Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him."

God was about to bring a severe judgement upon Isreal. I believe judgement is coming for our country too. But, no matter how bleak things look for our country we need to have hope in God. If we can't hope for God's sake let us at least continue the good work started by Lee and countless other folks and put bitterness behind us. God showed a very discouraged Elijah that he wasn't alone after all and that these people and their country was worth redeeming. We too are not alone. Yes, it is frightening times we live in. But we have a haritage of being able to stick things out, especially with the aid of God.

Not preaching folks, I just wanted to try and cool things down a little. Y'all have a good un'
