I don't understand or know that much on the different areas the ANV and the AOT were involved in and when they may have been together to even guess but I wonder if it may have 'hit' the AOT a bit earlier than the ANV?

Don't know if that makes sense but with the AOT seeming to have some severe setbacks earlier than the ANV, it sorts it out (at least in my very empty head). It makes sense, the fall of New Orleans, the ports in the Gulf areas, Shiloh and then a few more things and the picture may have been bleaker at an earlier time than those in the Eastern areas. For the ANV, losing Stonewall was huge, it all went "South" from there.

I believe it was in "Oh What A Lonesome Time I Had" around the time of Gettysburg, that Moxley's wife was letting him see in her letters how bad it was at home in Alabama. Can't recall every detail but I think he was with Bragg and he was in South Alabama for a very long time. I'm sure he could see it with his own eyes. Some of the other journals I remember reading seemed to hold out some hope til '63. Those were ANV wives or soldiers writings.
