Re: The Lincoln Tariff Quote question

My observation concerning the disagreements over the legality of succession of the Confederate States appear to be mostly individual opinions that are the result of the experience of having read and researched some books and documents by most individuals. We all develop opinions based on what we have learned by our own limited research, and this is a valid source, but others have developed opposing opinions using their same limited research.

I am aware that it is not feasible to cite a source for ever statement of opinion; however, I believe at least some general attempt of sourcing information should be made. The use of reliable basis for one's opinion might keep the personal, snippy, replies that sometime occur at a minimum.

This no attempt on my part to regulate information that occurs between nor by any individual poster, for Jim establishes his rules since he owns the Board, but it seems we all will learn more if we are respectful of other viewpoints and attempt to support them by using specific statements.
