Right. There is plenty of underlying motives to wage war against Southern institutions of slavery; to destroy the its economic protections at a time when its agraculture was weak, would definitly increase the local market for Northern farmers and corporate transportation industries like railroads. A Tarriff would insure that the South would not go aboard for cheaper commodities and would keep Northern investors and capitalist rich.
