Our New York Despatches.
New York, December 21, 1860- It is now certain that the President has authorized Maj. Anderson to surrender the Charleston Forts, if any attack should be made. The Abolitionist are attacking Mr. Buchanan very fiercely, because he refuses to coerce. They allege that force should be used the moment any attempt is made to prevent the collection of revenue or to take the forts. The Abolitionist papers are growing more savage every day…

Washington Gossip--Washington, December 21. -…There is no longer any doubt that instructions have been sent to Major Anderson, upon the appeal of his wife to the President, to surrender Fort Moultrie if the place is attacked by the secessionist.
