IF Major Anderson had orders from Washington to surrender Fort Moultrie on demand, (If Attacked) then what was his reason for abandoning Fort Moultrie in the middle of the night and occuping Fort Sumter? Was it not that he was afraid of being attacked at Fort Moultrie and that Fort Moultrie was undefencible. What did he have to fear and why was he worried about defending Fort Moultrie, IF he had orders to Surrender on demand?
He had no "Official" orders to occupy Fort Sumter to improve his security or position. According to the O.R.'s we are given the opinion that the occupation was totally on Major Anderson's personal authority. That he acted unilaterally as commandant of the Fort Moultrie Garrison. But he was under orders to not resist if attacked and to not upset the balance of military power in the harbor per agreement between President Buchannan and the Governor.
How does this square with the events that occuried? It does not seem to make sence. What he did, he had no orders to do, but that which he did have orders to obey, he did not do those thing.
It would seem that he was a "rogue agent" acting under the direction of a "shadow government" to intentionally create the crisis that it became. And if so his actions were an act of Treason against the United States.
It would seem that there were a lot of Traitors to the Constitution of the United States involved in the Abolishionist movement with an aim of starting a war with the Slave owning states. John Brown, Fredrick Douglas, Harriet Tubman, and the "Massachusette Six" planners of the Harpers Ferry Raid. Robert Anderson, Gen Winfield Scott, Abraham Lincoln, Elihu Washburne, David Hunter, Henry Halleck, Jesse Grant and who knows who else.
