There was a wonderful virtual tour website but I can't find it now. The fort itself is under the Gulf of Mexico. Foster's Point, where it stood, is now pretty much sand and vegitation. You have to get there by boat. I have a brick from it and that was found by my Dad in the 1920's. It's wonderful that you have the letter. Of the 3 forts built by Chase in the same area, McRee is the only one gone. It was also a different shape and speculation has been the construction rushed to finish it.
