Having the letter copies is a treasure for sure. There isn't anything left of McRee but he had to have been at Barrancas also. It is still there and is a wonderful place to tour. You can look across the bay and see where McRee was on the west side of the pass and Pickens still is on the east side. Advanced Redoubt is behind Barrancas and the Museum of Naval Avaition is just across the street.
If you are in the area and have the time, Barrancas is a very good place to see just how the fort situation played out.
