Thanks Pam. I could be going through the area at the end of the month and was wondering if it was possible to visit the site or not. Sounds like there is not much to see if anything. I've actually got copies of three letters. One from Ft. McRee, one when he is on the train at "Merdian Station" (Merdian, MS) headed to tend the wounded from the Battle of Shiloh, and one from north MS shortly before he was wounded at the Battle of Farmington (MS) and subsequently died about a month later.
