B/Gen. A.M. Manigault question

Manigault received 20 day leave from winter quarters
on 22 Dec 1863 at Dalton , GA. I am trying to
ascertain who had command of the brigade during those
20 days. Did he still hold command being absent? Did
some other General step in? Did a Sr. Col. of the
brigade fill in? If the latter, could it have been
Col. James F. Pressley, 10/19th S.C. Inf? Manigualt's book "A Carolinian Goes to War" does not mention who was in command.

Do any of you know where I can find out the answer to
this question? If it was Pressley, does that count
for him being an acting B/Gen and therefore also a
Calif. CSA Gen. such as Col. George Flournoy of the 16th
TX Inf. Flournoy was honored as such by a
large group of SUV/UDC and some of us SUV personnel in 2005 at Colma, CA .

I did the oration at the SCV/UDC grave marker dedication for J F Pressley at Fairfield, CA some years ago and have always been highly interested in him and his extended family out here including his older brother, John G. Pressley, Lt. Col., C.O. 25th S.C. Inf 1862-64. John is in the old cemetery in Santa Rosa, CA where I am the civil war specialist and research and look after all CW vets (165, 15 CSA).

Thanks,

CC
