Charles -- I looked ahead at the roster of the medical school graduates in 1861, and there he is, "R. P. Smith, one of 94 graduates. That's a great story about the abortive Battle of Santa Rosa! I always thought that what Southern sentiment there was in California was centered around Los Angeles, not in the Napa Valley area. It shows you that I'm not too up on Claifornia history!
